Oventic is a Zapatista "caracol" in the lush green Sierra Madre mountains of Chiapas, the southermost state of Mexico, sharing a border with Guatemala.

The photos to the right show a Zapatista mural of resistance (top) and the local school in Oventic (bottom). The school costs one chicken per year to attend.
